MACPAC Watch: September 2018 meeting covered multi-state collaborations

The Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission (MACPAC) held their most recent meeting in Washington, D.C. on September 13-14, 2018. From our perspective, one of the more interesting topics covered was multi-state collaboration, a founding principle of HealthTech Solutions.

We have software products that enable states to easily comply with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Promoting Interoperability Program (formerly known as the Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Program, also referred to as “meaningful use”). Our cloud-based products were developed with the belief that a core piece of software could work for many states’ obligations to pay incentives to providers, audit the program, and report quality data to CMS. Furthermore, products such as ours promote the “reuse” principle that CMS detailed in recent policy guidance.

We applaud MACPAC and CMS for looking for more opportunities to promote program efficiencies through these state, CMS, and vendor collaborations. We look forward to continuing to partner with more states on this effort.
