Deadline approaching to renew Medicaid IT cost allocation waiver

At the end of this calendar year, an important cost allocation waiver expires. This waiver currently allows states and other federal agencies to leverage Medicaid’s optimal federal contributions for systems design, development, and implementation to improve other human services systems. In other words: When a shared approach benefits Medicaid, other human services agencies may leverage this development at no additional cost. This has been in effect since 2011 and many states have taken advantage of enhanced matching funds to improve program outcomes.
